Our First Online Learning Course in Hawassa

We are pleased to announce that we have completed our first online learning course in chemical management in textiles!

After a meticulous selection process, we accepted 4 lecturers and 20 students from Hawassa University to participate in the course. The lecturers were onboarded, trained and were continuously coached by our external didactical specialists from Germany and by our experts on textile industry from Bangladesh. The 20 students received a partly digital, partly on-site educational program from the local lecturers, again under supervision and support of our international experts. There were weekly review sessions between the lecturers from Hawassa University and the students in two separate groups on site together with the coaches from Germany and Bangladesh which were joining via online web meeting software.

The students had to fulfill a practical case study with different tasks. They had to apply different research methods and were provided with an online collaboration software for their teamwork. Together with group presentations the students had to use this software for presenting their results. To receive additional knowledge the students were provided with online learning material which fit the learning goals and the case study.
The teaching method followed an agile learning approach. Lecturers and students had to adapt every week in a flexible way according to the needs of the learning task. While the students learnt more about chemical management in textiles with a practical and realistic approach, the lecturers had to learn to adapt their teaching methods and stay flexible in helping the students. The lecturers were coached by the didactical coach in additional feedback sessions. Despite the highly innovative approach of the project and some minor technical challenges, we are pleased to say that the learning project was a great success! We thank all the participants, students and lecturers, as well as the coaches to take part in this project.
